Multidisciplinary creative working across visual art, music, and digital experiences.

SUBJECT 28 LAB is an ongoing exploration of the relationship between sound, imagery, and digital culture. A space for experimentation, where photography, graphic design, motion, and digital art intersect.

Working under the alias AKIRA, I’m a Toronto-based freelance designer, visual artist, and music enthusiast drawn to the energy of underground music, contemporary visual culture, and the unexpected ways different mediums can communicate.

BACKGROUND

My creative practice grew out of a longstanding connection to music and visual art. What began as an interest in different sounds, genres, and visual styles gradually developed into an exploration of how these worlds could exist together.

From graphic design and motion to 3D experimentation, illustration, and photography, I’m interested in creating work that goes beyond a single medium. Each discipline offers a different way to explore atmosphere, identity, movement, and emotion.

Music and nightlife remain important influences on my work. Through event photography and visual projects, I explore the people, spaces, energy, and fleeting moments that make these environments distinct, documenting culture while interpreting it through my own visual perspective.

THE PRACTICE

I approach each project as an opportunity to experiment. Sometimes that means building a visual identity; other times, capturing a moment, exploring an image, or developing motion and digital compositions.

The process is rarely limited to one format. I’m interested in the space between structure and spontaneity, the analogue and the digital, the raw and the refined.

SUBJECT 28 LAB is both a portfolio and a living archive of that process — a place to collect ideas, test directions, and develop new visual languages.
